The Biloxi Marsh on the Louisiana coast line is roughly and hour south of New Orleans and offers a great opportunity to sight cast to Redfish as well as many other species such as Black Drum, Sheepshead and Jack Crevalle.  It is an easy day trip to a very quite and kicked back nature preserve where you might not see another person the entire afternoon.  After a good day of fishing, you can head back to New Orleans for a good dinner, live music and late night if you still have the energy.
